Hola Amigos e Famillia!
First of all. Thank you to everyone who came out to the wedding. It was incredible. We had a great time, and we were very thankful to all of those who made the day possible with all of thier help in preparation and planning. We had an amazing wedding, made all the more amazing by the support and attendance of our friends and family. In true style, we are currently in Mexico enjoying our hoenymoon. Some highlights and an overview for all of you to enjoy.
We arrived in Mexico City, where I was quickly doing a crash course in Spanish.
I was adamant about ensuring that upon my return, I was somewhat fluent and understandable in spanish. One of Olivia's strengths is languages, and by using her, and the parallels with Italian, added with my basic knowledge of my language of background, I figured I could manage to pull off the hold on the language that someone like Lou Diamond Phillips has. Somewhat understandable, but sounding awesome.
We waited around in Mexico City's airport. It was awesome. An odd thing, none of the food stores, with the exception of Starbuck's and the American chains has any signs indicating that they in fact sell food. I found that a little odd. We had some time to kill, and as I continued to challenge myself linguistically and put myself out on a limb by asking people where I could smoke, pee, fly, and swear, we approached the time when we would board our flight to Manzanillo.
We got onto a very light looking aircraft for our departure to Manzanillo. This thing was what was commonly known as a prop job, or a "propellor airplane". An airplane that forsakes the usage of turbo jets, or jet engines, and relies on the thrust that is produced from six single props swerving and circulating. Needless to say, we felt every little thing on this plane. The view. Amazing. Mexico is actually an enormous country, and being serious, my earlier trips were not even remotely representative of what it really is...cultural, savvy and developed in business and tourism, technologically further along in some forms of communication (such as cell phones. One thing I noticed, everyone talks and has a much more high tech looking cell phone than anywhere I have ever been. Everything seems to have some form of encouragement related to communicating by "texting" or "calling" someone. This to me indicated much more established use of cell phones for more people than in Canada, where in many ways, you need to commit to a carrier in order to enjoy that service).
Anywyas...more thoughts later...time for a swim and room service.
