John Legend

I knew John Legend was Kanye West's protege, and a recent certified platinum under the radar star, but after checking out some of his music, I have to say that I am impressed enough to say that this guy is arguably one of the best R&B artists I've heard since Maxwell. Realizing that some die hard R&B fans might be incensed by what I've just said, I'd also like to point out how I am glad that that stupid glossed out crossover of theatrical gangsta R&B a la So So Def's Jagged Edge, who I never listened to, but couldn't stand, is over. This cat has soul, and is reminiscent of a young Curtis Mayfield. He's got a good look too. Kanye is staying true to putting together good music, and I'm refreshed to see something hot like this again. I really thought that 4 guys in bandannas singing romantically about how they were going to "marry the fuck out of you girl", was a bit much.
