Amidst all of the most recent controversies surrounding Rosie O'Donnell's tenure on The View, I thought I would post a few recent Youtube videos of one of the initial incidents that got her and her good friend Kelly Ripa into some trouble. Take a look at some of the videos I posted before this post, and observe the dynamic between the two. It's obviously tense...no doubt about it. My personal opinion is that Aiken seemed on the defensive about what was probably a bit of good natured fun poking, and was sensitive amidst what is major scrutiny into his personal life, and the question of his sexuality. Ripa, in all her apparent innocence though, obviously felt slighted and didn't think that Aiken was in a position, nor deserved to be in a position, to give it back to her. Kind of felt like one of those situations where it's a new guy on the team, and the seasoned player doesn't feel like someone's paid their dues.
Just my two cents...but this leads me to another topic in the news....O'Donnell's public spat with Donald Trump. The Ripa incident, coupled with this, made me curious to see what she bases her "Views" on, when she uses the forum of a nationally televised, and highly rated show, to convey her perceptions of things. To be honest, I think that Rosie called it on the Ripa/Aiken one, based on what I observed, but I'm still trying to figure out why she tore into Trump with such tenacity. Comedians can walk the line of being funny and entertaining, and plainly being malicious. Look at celebrity roasts, but the tirade against Trump, and his press conference with Tara Conner might have been gawdy and flamboyant, but he does own the pageant, and I don't think it was deserving of the kind of personal attack that O'Donnell lashed out with. I mean, they're all celebrities here, but O'Donnell has a history of speaking without thinking (i.e. the Tom Selleck NRA debate she got into on her own show back in the late nineties, with an obviously irritated Magnum P.I., who she put on the spot). If you watch the video of her "opinion" on Trump, it's a bit much. I mean, the guy has a history, but it's too much.

I agree . great blog.
the Aiken/Ripa debacle goes back even further to when the haloween skit origionally aired. the end of the skit has Rippa (dressed as aiken) trying to kiss Regis (dressed as BO BICE) in what would seem a gay inuendo, which was cut when mr.aiken was on the program this time. Aiken was well aware of it and i'm sure the interaction between the two was tense from the beginning. Aiken has been on the program at least three times before hand but as a guest. his fans knew that Ripa did not care for Aiken. I'm not sure what to say about Trump though, he's coming off as very hateful, (much as Ripa did) in his rants. Rosie is outspoken for sure, but isn't this all a bit over the top, for all of them. Mr. aiken has seemed to take the high road in this, he's not been a participant beyond being apologetic and humorous about the whole thing. Even at Rosie's goof. saying "he doesn't quite agree with her, but it's nice to have someone in your corner...I guess"
